About Ms. Lopes
My name is Kathy Lopes (rhymes with ropes).
I am so excited to be a Hardy Oak Hornet for the 2016-2017 school year!!!!!
I started college at the University of Texas at Austin and spent two years in the Longhorn Band. Hook'em! When I decided to become a music major, I transferred to the University of North Texas in Denton. After my first semester, I was named "The Most Outstanding New Student" of the Mean Green Marching Band. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music with a minor in Education.
Upon graduation, I went to graduate school at Southern Methodist University to pursue studies in Music Therapy. I learned about the powerful effects of music when working with Alzheimer's patients, Psychiatric patients, Mentally and Physically disabled and many other populations.

I have taught Elementary Music in NEISD for 16 years and am so happy to be a Hardy Oak Hornet!
